CHRISTIAN LEGAL AID OF LOS ANGELES ENGAGES ELLEN REINIG AS LEGAL AID CLINIC DIRECTOR Los Angeles, California April 3, 2023 Christian Legal Aid of Los Angeles (CLA-LA) has announced that it has engaged Ellen Reinig as Legal Aid Clinic Director. Among other things, Ms. Reinig will be seeking attorney volunteers for monthly legal aid clinics providing free legal services to the underserved community in Los Angeles. Ms. Reinig served as Director of Legal Programs for CLA-LA from 2019 to 2020 before moving to Tennessee and beginning her solo practice as an attorney. Ms. Reinig received her Juris Doctorate degree from Whittier Law School graduating "summa cum laude" and her Bachelor’s degree in social work from Concordia University, Irvine. Ms. Reinig has been pursuing justice for those who cannot speak for themselves for the last two decades. She is currently serving on the Board of Forgotten Children, Inc., which fights human trafficking, and is the Development Director of The Transformation Project, which helps people find freedom in Christ from life controlling issues, such as anger, alcohol, and drugs. She has worked in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as a Victim Advocate and for the Institute of Innovation, Integration, and Impact in Africa as a Human Rights Advocate. Ms. Reinig’s work as an attorney has included serving at Orange County Legal Aid, the Pacific Justice Institute, and the Human Trafficking Unit of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Charles Suhayda, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of CLA-LA, said, “We are pleased that Ellen Reinig will once again be assisting us to ensure that our legal aid continue to serve those who cannot afford to pay for an attorney’s assistance. We believe that her enthusiasm and commitment will encourage more attorneys to volunteer to serve at our monthly legal clinics.” Mr. Suhayda further stated, “On behalf of the Board of Directors of CLA-LA, I want to thank Carolyn Jefferson for her dedicated service as Director of Legal Programs over t he past three years. She has chosen to pursue other activities, and we wish her much success. Ms. Jefferson did a particularly outstanding job organizing the Christian Legal Aid of Los Angeles "Hugh & Hazel Darling Foundation" Legal Internship Program to educate and encourage law students to devote a portion of their legal career in service to those in poverty for whom legal services are out of reach.” About Christian Legal Aid of Los Angeles: CLA-LA is a stand-alone California nonprofit religious corporation that believes pursuing “justice for all” is an essential aspect of loving our neighbors. We believe that providing access to basic legal services is a powerful way to offer a hand-up to the most vulnerable in society: veterans, the elderly, homeless families, victims of domestic abuse, and refugees. The CLA-LA mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ by cultivating a passion for justice in our community and providing free legal services and hope to those in need in Los Angeles County.
